There are so many incentives for attending the 2017 Cass County Fair, it’s hard to imagine adding more. And yet in addition to the livestock shows, cooking contests, amusement rides, yummy food, bull riding and queen contests, fair organizers have added BMX stunt rider demonstrations to this year’s lineup.Freestyle BMX is bicycle motocross stunt riding on BMX bikes. A stunt team with Nowear BMX will be performing many amazing stunts at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, east of the Expo Center.

Nowear BMX is a rider-owned, American made BMX company that has stunt rider and sells bicycle apparel and parts. More importantly, this eight-year-old company focuses on helping today’s riders and growing the sport of BMX in positive ways, according to owner Karl Hinkley.

Hinkley, age 40, is one of at least four BMX riders who will be demonstrating back flips, 360-spins, tail whips and superman stunts at the fair. He has been honing his riding skills his entire life. “I just turned 40 and I’ve been riding for 35 years,” he said.

He and his team of riders won’t have far to travel as Nowear BMX is based in Unadilla. “What’s unique about us is that we’re not only a Nebraska-based team, we are also very diversified. My son just joined the team and he is seven years old. I also have two daughters who ride, so our riders range from age seven to 40.”
