At least two cruise ships’ itineraries have been tweaked to avoid Tropical Storm Cindy, currently swirling around the Gulf of Mexico.Carnival Valor and Carnival Triumph will call at the their originally scheduled ports, although the dates have been reversed. Both ships are on five-night Western Caribbean cruises.

The storm — located 305 miles south of the mouth of the Mississippi River — has maximum sustained wind speeds of 40 miles per hour and has already prompted a tropical storm warning for part of Louisiana’s coast. The storm became named by the National Hurricane Center on Tuesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, cruise lines also have their eyes on Tropical Storm Bret, which formed Monday afternoon in the Southern Caribbean. Both Carnival and Royal Caribbean have ships due in the area this week, but so far, no further itinerary changes have been made Cruise Critic is in contact with all the cruise lines and will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.

The ship, which departed from Galveston Saturday, June 17, spent Monday in Progreso and will call at Cozumel Tuesday. It is expected to return to Galveston Thursday, as planned. Departing from New Orleans tonight, the ship will visit Progreso Wednesday and Cozumel Thursday. It is expected to return to New Orleans Saturday, as planned.
